Glossary → Kiss cut

Kiss cut.

a cut through the sticker but not through its backing liner

StickerApp defines it as cutting the sticker without cutting through the backing liner, so the sticker peels off a sheet that stays whole. The cut follows the cut line in the file. StickerApp states a maximum size of 27.5 cm (10.8 in) in one dimension for its kiss-cut stickers. A file with both cuts carries two cut-line layers, one for the inner kiss-cut and one for the outer die-cut (StickerApp file setup). Redbubble says all stickers on its marketplace are kiss-cut by third-party printers, and cut to the design plus approximately 1/8 in (3.2 mm) of white or transparent border so they peel from the sheet. The border and the liner are part of the product: artwork designed as if the sticker were cut free of its liner has no allowance for either.
