What we keep about you.
Very little, and nothing we sell or share for advertising. The site runs no analytics script, sets no cookies and loads nothing from a third-party origin. Questions and requests go to hello@nozzlecheck.com.
Reading the site
Requests reach nozzlecheck.com through Cloudflare, which sees your IP address and request in order to deliver the page. Our own server writes one log line per request: your IP address, the time, the page, the response code, the referring page and your browser's user agent. The log is deleted after 14 days. Once a week a script counts it into a table of totals: readers, pages, referrers, and campaign tags such as utm_campaign. The table holds no addresses, and nothing else is built from the log.
Sending in a claim
The claim form stores three things: the time, the claim you typed, and the source link if you gave one. It does not store your IP address, your browser or a cookie. To stop floods it keeps your IP address in memory for up to an hour and then forgets it. A claim we check may be quoted in a published verdict, so do not put your name or anyone else's personal details in it.
The letter
Pulse is sent from news.nozzlecheck.com, which runs Ghost on our own server; the emails go out through Mailgun. When you subscribe, Ghost keeps your email address, the name you give (if any), when you signed up and which letters you receive. With Ghost's default settings it also records whether an email was opened and which links in it were clicked. Mailgun processes your address to deliver each email. Every letter carries a one-click unsubscribe; to have your member record deleted entirely, write to us and we will do it.
Email to us
Mail to hello@nozzlecheck.com is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to the editor's inbox and kept there as correspondence. Corrections may be acknowledged on the corrected page; we do not name the sender unless you ask us to.
The podcast and YouTube
The podcast pages are part of this site and are logged like any other page. Our YouTube channel is run with a Google OAuth app that can reach one account only: the NozzleCheck channel's own. It uploads our videos, edits their titles, descriptions and captions, and reads the channel's own statistics. It never asks a reader to sign in and holds no data about any other Google account. YouTube itself is governed by Google's privacy policy; our use of data from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or the UK, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to it being kept. Write to hello@nozzlecheck.com and say which of the above you used (the letter, the claim form, email); we answer within a month. You can also complain to your national data protection authority.
