Print embellishment.

Any finishing effect added on top of a flat CMYK print: foil, spot gloss or varnish, raised texture, glitter or metallic effect, usually simulated on screen before the job runs. Rendering it digitally saves a proof run on the actual finishing line, but the simulation is only as good as the profile behind it, and an unmatched profile still means a wasted press check.
