Glossary → Giclée

Giclée.

A fine art digital print, in the Fine Art Trade Guild's definition, often a reproduction and occasionally a computer-generated original. The word sets no process. Paper vendors narrow it: PermaJet says you must print on an aqueous pigmented inkjet with seven or more ink colours, while the Guild's own standard sets no ink count and asks instead for Blue Wool 6 or more, a substrate pH of 7-9 and at least 250 gsm. Those three numbers, not the word on the listing, decide whether the print survives a decade on a wall.
